Some helpful tips for creating video content that won't put your customers to sleep.

At some point almost all companies will need to use video content to showcase their business/products to employees, consumers and even investors. With such a high volume of video now residing on the internet, it's important to stand out and ensure your video content matches the quality of your products and services.
Here are some easy tips to reference when the time comes to get your video(s) shot.
Seek Out Professionals
This may be a very obvious tip, but it should be stated. Hiring an agency, video production company or videographer for your corporate video shoot can be an invaluable asset. Videographers can provide insights on scripts, sound, lighting, logistics and most other things involved in production.
Speak to Your Customer
The best way to create an entertaining corporate video is make one that will resonate with the public. Telling a person how things will benefit THEM is an effective approach, it feels like you are speaking to their personal needs. A list of features can be informative, but it doesn’t aide your audience and help them see how your product/service is right for them.
Create a Storyboard
With certain businesses it will be obvious what video you should create and how you should go about doing it. For many however, it can be hard to take an idea for a product tutorial or detailed explainer video and make it a reality.
Starting with an idea web or a storyboard can help those ideas thrive. Keep notes on your sessions and powerpoints handy, some of them will serve as inspiration for videos down the line.
Use Strong Visuals
The design of your video should be reflective of your brand and it's identity. It could be colourful and full of animation, or clean and professional looking. When you decide on a specific style, make sure it stays consistent across all of your video content. When selecting visuals, think of locations, images and colors that bring your ideas to life. Make sure your first and last few scenes are memorable to leave a lasting impression.
Keep A Good Pace
Hollywood films are defined by the peaks and valleys of action, drama, or comedy. There's no need for these dramatic lulls in a corporate video, it should be engaging enough throughout to keep the viewer's attention. There are numerous ways to track viewer engagement but they are all after the fact. Starting out with this in mind will ensure there is no fewer drop-off or disengagement. Promote Your Video
The job isn't done when the edit is finished. You now need to think about how you will get people to see the finished product. Publishing your video straight to your website will not increase traffic from other places. If it's not full of trade secrets, consider putting your video on YouTube, then promote it in an email or even add it to your signature. Now that it's on YouTube you can see how people are watching and engaging with your content.
Now go out there and share your company with the world!
